ALLERGENS

Allergies and intolerances are hot topics in the fitness food industry as well: Athletes with food intolerances have to deal with the composition of their food more than ever. For this reason, the Gold's Gym Nutrition Team has made it its business to provide you with quickly visible information about allergens contained in our products. Convenient and quickly accessible: this is how you can optimally integrate suitable fitness food into your daily training routine.

WHAT ARE FOOD INTOLERANCES?

Intolerance to food always occurs when the body cannot digest certain components of food or cannot digest them completely. The reasons for this are missing or defective enzymes or transporters in the digestive system. The undigested components enter the large intestine and are decomposed there. The resulting fermentation processes make the body feel unwell. This leads to gastrointestinal complaints such as flatulence, abdominal pain, cramps or diarrhoea. The best-known representatives are lactose, fructose and histamine.

WHAT ARE FOOD ALLERGIES?

A food allergy, on the other hand, is caused by an immunological defence reaction of the body to substances that are actually harmless - namely protein building blocks (allergens). The body forms specific antibodies against foods such as peanuts or soya. The immune system classifies certain foods as "foreign". The symptoms range from skin reactions, gastrointestinal disorders, irritation of the respiratory tract to anaphylactic shock and a drop in blood pressure.

The 14 main allergen groups include:

Soya, eggs, peanuts, nuts, milk, fish, molluscs, crustaceans, sesame seeds, mustard seeds, lupine, celery, sulphur dioxide/sulphites and cereals containing gluten.

THE LABELLING - ALLERGENS IN GOLD'S GYM NUTRITION PRODUCTS

First, the less good news for those affected: crucial components of classic sports nutrition are sometimes among the main allergens. The very popular whey protein , for example, is a dairy product - and therefore possibly allergenic for some. It is naturally present in shakes, bars and drinks. But traces of other substances that can lead to certain food intolerances may also be found in some of our products - even if only in small quantities. In spite of the highest quality management highest quality management and constantly stringently tested production processes, it cannot be ruled out that traces of allergenic substances may be present in small quantities in some of our products.

Now the good news: If you suffer from an intolerance or allergy, you will find the exact allergen information for your Gold's Gym Nutrition products both on our product detail pages in the online shop and on each individual product packaging.

And don't worry: we offer enough products for lactose intolerant people, allergy sufferers and athletes with all kinds of food intolerances. Just take a look:
